Kyle earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, in 1989, with honors. His undergraduate degrees are in biology and chemistry. After graduation Kyle took employment as a fishery biologist for the State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game. He enjoyed the rugged outdoor lifestyle in Alaska, but his experiences working for Fish and Game while evaluating the Exxon Valdez oil spill convinced him to attend law school.

He attended law school at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he was involved in many activities and he was chosen to receive Hamline’s Leadership Scholarship. He also was published in the Hamline Journal of Law and Public Policy, won the national Roscoe Hogan Environmental Essay Competition, and as a result became a Fellow of the Roscoe Pound Foundation.

Kyle is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts of Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as the (Federal) Seventh and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Kyle’s career with the firm began in 1992. He began a general practice which included appearances at the Wisconsin Supreme Court. His practice has evolved. He currently represents Plaintiffs and Defendants in personal injury matters. He advises clients regarding employment law and assists various corporate, retainer, and business clients with a wide variety of needs. He has substantial school-related law and church/religion law experience. He represents cities and municipalities of all sizes on their various law needs. Kyle has represented and continues to represent many clients at trial and in litigation related matters.

Kyle’s many trial experiences in various jurisdictions and venues have resulted in many favorable verdicts, with multiple Plaintiffs judgments in excess of $500,000. He has handled many matters where millions, tens of millions, or more were at stake, in the context of litigation, business, and contracts. He has written and filed multiple briefs at the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, including appearing before the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the watershed employment law decision of Salveson vs. Douglas County. Kyle serves as a presenter and guest speaker at litigation, employment and business law related seminars. More recently, Kyle has been called upon to serve as an expert witness in the fields of litigation best practices and legal malpractice.

Kyle is a member of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Bar Association, and the 11th District (MN) Bar Association where he has been past Chair of the Young Lawyers Division. He also belongs to the Douglas County (WI) Bar Association, where he has served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President.

Kyle has two sons. He has been involved in many community activities. Notable among these is service at many levels of leadership for the Scouts of America, Troop 212 of Poplar, Wisconsin. Having coached baseball consistently over many years, he also has coached hockey, basketball and other sports. He is involved at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin and serves various Diocesan committees. He has long served the Board of Catholic Charities Bureau, where he has also served various other committee assignments and officer roles, including Chairman. Kyle enjoys hunting, fishing, boating on Lake Superior, kayaking, camping, and all outdoor activities and sports. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, classic cars, and enjoying the passage of time with his extended family and many friends.
